The history of Porsche can date back as early as 1900, when the first car named Porsche, Lohner-Porsche, made a debut appearance and caused a big stir. Senior Porsche was born in Austria in 1875; his father was an ironsmith. As a kid, Ferdinand liked to be an ironworker, and was interested in electricity. And from 1890 he began to undertake the development work of electric motor car. When he was 24, senior Porsche already invented the electric hub motor. In the Paris International Exhibition the next year, senior Porsche already enjoyed a worldwide reputation. He installed electric hub motors on the train in 1915. There is a train with more than one hundred meters long, which still installs this electric hub motor in America. In the next decades, he designed various styles of cars that have epoch-making significance, such as Daimler – Benz SS and SSK racing car, Auto Union`s GrandPrix Car and so on. All of these cars are the glorious chapters in German automotive industry. In 1923, he was promoted to chief engineer of Daimler head office. In 1926, Daimler and Benz merged into the present Benz company. During the term, Senior Porsche suggested manufacturing a productive car that the masses could afford, but the suggestion was rejected by the board of that time. On 6th March 1931, Senior Porsche established a design company specializing in development of automobile, aircraft and ship engines with the help of several investors in Stuttgart, Germany. Ferry Porsche joined the designing team when he was also 24.
Thereafter, they turned to the development plan of "Volkswagen". Four years later, in 1935, the original car was produced, which was the Volkswagen Beetle. Till now, Beetles have constantly been manufactured for 50 years and have been the motor type of the largest production in the world. In the 30s, Senior Porsche also designed three high-performance racing cars for Audi company's predecessor - Auto Union, which are also considered as the predecessor of the Porsche sports car.
